\nShortly after Jason Maze started at Dermavant Sciences
\nas the director of global regulatory systems and information
\nmanagement, he began implementing a new publishing platform
\nfrom the ground up in an almost totally green-field environment.\n<\/p>\n
\nHaving supported the publishing and submissions functions at a
\nnumber of similar organizations, Maze believed that a paradigm
\nshift was long overdue. \u201cPublishing is a very important piece of
\nthe puzzle,\u201d he explains. \u201cBut I\u2019ve always felt like it was done in the
\nwrong way. Publishing needs to be mainlined and integrated into
\nthe day-to-day process of application development rather than
\nbeing treated as a separate task at the end of the process.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\nAt Dermavant, Maze put his theory into action. With no formal information management system in place, the
\nimmuno-dermatology company collected regulatory documents and shared files through Microsoft SharePoint.
\nBeyond that, they managed an inefficient process for submission publishing: Content writers first collaborated
\ninternally, then handed documents over to external publishing contractors, and brought the final dossier back in
\nhouse for quality check and review. From there, they\u2019d often send files back to the contractors for corrections\u2014
\nall during a time when Dermavant was racing to be first to market with a new drug for treating plaque psoriasis.\n<\/p>\n
\nMaze realized that with the right technology partner, he could significantly streamline the company\u2019s publishing
\nprocess. \u201cWe already work very closely with our medical and scientific writing teams to maintain document
\nquality from as early on in the process as possible,\u201d he says. \u201cWe knew that if we had an easy-to-use system that
\ncould extend this sort of collaboration, those teams would embrace it.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\nMaze didn\u2019t need to look far for a solution. Dermavant previously implemented the Veeva RIM Suite<\/a> to unify \nLuckily for Maze and team, getting users onboarded was a relatively easy process. \u201cThere\u2019s so much industry \n
\nregulatory processes, but they weren\u2019t maximizing its usage when he joined. Already experienced with Vault RIM
\nfrom his work at other companies, Maze immediately began to train the Dermavant teams on the suite\u2014
\nspecifically Veeva Submissions<\/a>, Veeva Submissions Archive<\/a>, and Veeva Submissions Publishing<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n
\nexperience built into Veeva RIM that you can stand it up very quickly and have an out-of-the-box version ready for
\nyour user community,\u201d he explains. \u201cFor that reason, our approach was to set up as close to a stripped down
\nversion of the platform as possible and then build it out from there to reflect our own processes. We wanted the
\nplatform to be compliant but not complex.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
