So where do they<br \/>\nsee AI working well, and how are they changing to support the industry in<br \/>\nthe best ways possible?<\/p>\n<p>\nAI use cases for promotional and medical content have continued to evolve<br \/>\n\u2014 from performing quality checks before medical, legal, and regulatory<br \/>\n(MLR) submission, to using generative AI for content creation and<br \/>\nremoving manual activity for claims management and scientific statements.<br \/>\nAgencies have not only begun to advance their own AI capabilities, but are<br \/>\nalso leveraging technology partners to embed them in existing content<br \/>\nprocesses. The new model requires work and change management.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nRegardless, the goal is to efficiently deliver impactful content that helps<br \/>\nhealthcare professionals (HCPs) enable better patient outcomes.<br \/>\nVeeva\u2019s 750+ agency partners are certified on Veeva products to help our<br \/>\nmutual customers get the most from their products. We asked five of our<br \/>\nagency partners how it\u2019s going.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n&#8220;Marketers want to see powerful<br \/>\ntools but are unsure of where<br \/>\nto start. Having the right partner to help navigate<br \/>\nthe rapidly evolving landscape is so critical,\u201d says <strong>Jeremy Richter<\/strong>, EVP,<br \/>\nglobal content and MLR strategy, Publicis Production.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAgencies say that achieving scalable, sustainable AI outcomes is less<br \/>\nabout the novelty of the algorithm and more about mastering foundational<br \/>\nelements that make any major technology program successful:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Focus on the human side of the AI change<\/strong><br \/>\nThis includes upskilling the workforce or hiring for the<br \/>\nexpertise needed to maintain the tools, and managing fear or<br \/>\nresistance with clear communication and training. Foster a<br \/>\nculture where teams can experiment, accept failure as a part<br \/>\nof learning, and use AI for small tasks as comfort builds.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Redesign the process for how work is done<\/strong><br \/>\nDesign process improvements with an understanding of<br \/>\nhow decisions impact day-to-day workflows, while keeping<br \/>\nbusiness goals in mind (e.g., efficiency, personalization).<br \/>\nEstablish consistent processes for data and content<br \/>\nmanagement to ensure AI runs on high-quality, trusted data.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Select the right tools and build a scalable environment<\/strong><br \/>\nInvest in an infrastructure capable of handling the scale across<br \/>\nbrands and markets. Favor integrated, embedded platform<br \/>\nsolutions over point solutions for speed, consistency, reduced<br \/>\ntechnical debt, security and compliance, and streamlined<br \/>\ndeployment.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\u201cTechnology leaders like Veeva lead the way by building scalable AI<br \/>\nsolutions in existing workflows and by developing AI content tools,<br \/>\nsmarter governance, and seamless integrations,\u201d says <strong>Lydia Jani<\/strong>, SVP,<br \/>\ndirector of regulatory operations, Omnicom Health.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n&#8220;Real impact from AI emerges<br \/>\nwhen we build robust<br \/>\ncapabilities; short-term savings<br \/>\nare a byproduct, not the goal.\u201d<br \/>\n<span>ADAM HIRSCH<\/span><br \/>\n<span>EVP, Innovation and Transformation,<br \/>\nReal Chemistry<\/span>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>AI is delivering value in content, at last<\/h2>\n<p>\nMost biopharmas are still figuring out where AI fits best. They may not<br \/>\nhave the teams, bandwidth, or basics yet, and that puts roles in flux.<br \/>\nAs Jani puts it, \u201cWe can all provide the most value to HCPs by staying agile,<br \/>\ncontinuously thinking about how to work with AI and how it can help us<br \/>\nas marketers, partners, and reviewers.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWhere do agencies recommend applying AI initially? It depends on<br \/>\ncompany- and brand-specific factors \u2014 and whom you ask. To see ROI and<br \/>\nmaintain market share, <strong>Jane Wallach<\/strong>, VP of MLR submissions, Jacques<br \/>\nMadison, recommends using the technology for mature brands where<br \/>\nbudgets aren\u2019t as large, the content is tried-and-true, and major claims and<br \/>\nmedical statements are well-known.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nJani sees AI delivering early, noticeable efficiencies for some clients in<br \/>\npre-screening and summarizing feedback for MLR, and real-time dashboards<br \/>\nto improve visibility of review status. \u201cThe next big thing for us will be<br \/>\nadvanced, personalized content creation and smarter compliance checks.<br \/>\nWe&#8217;re adapting tools within regulations and ensuring the agency and client<br \/>\nsides work in sync. Without synergy, the process is clunky,\u201d she adds.<br \/>\n<strong>Marcos Casanueva<\/strong>, managing partner, iDetailing Creatives, sees even<br \/>\nseemingly simple AI-driven tasks constrained by contracts, copyright,<br \/>\nand regulatory requirements. \u201cThat said, where AI has been adopted,<br \/>\nI\u2019ve seen only speed gains.\u201d In his experience, use cases show impact for<br \/>\npre-screening content and predictive content recommendations.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAgencies also anticipate high potential for AI use in medical materials.<br \/>\n<strong>Christen Nyarady<\/strong>, EVP of creative delivery and optimization, Omnicom<br \/>\nHealth, says, \u201cAI tools synthesize medical content to deliver scientific<br \/>\nstatements that align with a product. When data changes at the last minute,<br \/>\na new scientific statement can be made and get into promotions faster.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n&#8220;I&#8217;m a believer that AI will<br \/>\npositively transform jobs, not<br \/>\nreplace them. Within five years,<br \/>\nI think we&#8217;ll see simpler tasks<br \/>\nbecome self-service so that we<br \/>\ncan focus on intelligent content<br \/>\nthat truly delivers impact.\u201d<br \/>\n<span>JEREMY RICHTER<\/span><br \/>\n<span>EVP, Global Content and MLR<br \/>\nStrategy, Publicis Production<\/span>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>How biopharmas help marketing and MLR teams own their tech stack<\/h2>\n<p>\nIf AI success depends on executing well across people, processes,<br \/>\nand technology, the people element may be the most challenging<br \/>\nfor biopharmas now. But shifts in skills, adoption attitudes, change<br \/>\nmanagement, and culture among MLR teams and marketers are<br \/>\nunderway.<\/p>\n<p>\nAnd the innovation curve keeps accelerating. \u201cWe help marketers<br \/>\nenvision what\u2019s possible with new technology, empowering them<br \/>\nto take ownership of their tech stack \u2014 a shift from the traditional<br \/>\nagency-led model,\u201d says <strong>Adam Hirsch<\/strong>, EVP, innovation and<br \/>\ntransformation, Real Chemistry. When marketers deeply understand<br \/>\ntheir technology, they strengthen engagement with MLR, field teams,<br \/>\nand customers. \u201cMarketers should own the technology, but for the<br \/>\nlongest time, agencies have,\u201d he adds.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWallach sees marketers becoming more engaged and asking<br \/>\nquestions. \u201cThey\u2019re figuring out technologies along with agencies.<br \/>\nShe also sees increasing MLR participation in strategy, driven by<br \/>\ntechnology. \u201cReviewers want to talk about what content will be<br \/>\nsubmitted.
