Cloud platform supports the company’s decentralized business model and long-term IT strategy
PLEASANTON, CA — Aug. 7, 2013 – Genomic testing company, GenomeDx Biosciences Inc., replaced its document management system with Veeva Systems’ Vault QualityDocs, the first cloud-based content solution developed specifically for the creation, review, approval, and distribution of controlled documents across life sciences organizations. After a thorough evaluation process, GenomeDx chose Vault for its ability to efficiently manage thousands of documents throughout their lifecycle – from development through external auditing – in the cloud.

In fact, GenomeDx said that one of the key reasons it chose Vault QualityDocs is for its ability to track and review a document through all stages of its lifecycle – with notes, edits, annotations, and more – from anywhere without downloading it. According to Katz, this has proven to be a significant time saver for the company because documents can be previewed and commented on without opening or printing them in a separate application.
Additionally, Vault QualityDocs has made document search and retrieval substantially faster as compared to GenomeDx’s previous system. Katz explained, “With Vault, we’re able to find and view any document we need in seconds.”
With more efficient internal document management, GenomeDx expects external audits will be simplified through a paperless solution with all documents online through Vault.
“Our expectation is that it will be quicker to retrieve requested documents during an inspection and easier to review the audit trail,” Katz said. “Our goal is to have a fully electronic compliance process that allows regulatory inspectors to easily access the system and find the documents they need during an audit.”
