In our last edition, we discussed laying a strong data foundation for AI. Today, let’s talk about where AI fits into your daily safety operations to reduce manual effort without introducing compliance risk.
First, a quick reality check: AI is not replacing human expertise. Nor is it the right tool for every task. The future of safety operations will be a hybrid model where humans, automation, and AI work together.
Because this industry is heavily regulated, bringing AI into your safety systems ecosystem requires strong guardrails, governance, and human oversight.
Where to start with AI in safety
You don’t need to transform everything at once.
Start by identifying manual bottlenecks causing your team most friction, then pick the right tool and approach for the job. We want to highlight two different approaches today: agentic labor and assistive AI.
Agentic labor
Think of agentic labor as AI teammates. It is a digital workforce built to execute simple to complex, multistep business processes. For example, Veeva Falcon Safety is agentic labor that will initially start off with streamlining adverse event intake, case processing, and follow-up management, as well as work with any E2B-compliant safety system.
Falcon can monitor incoming potential cases in safety inboxes, assess the information, extract adverse event details, determine if they qualify as reportable cases (ICSRs), and route them accordingly.
This will dramatically speed up intake while maintaining compliance because Falcon is more than AI — it’s orchestration. Falcon uses deterministic automation wherever possible, and non-deterministic AI only when it is the best solution for the job.
Assistive AI
Think of assistive AI as a smart collaborator sitting alongside your team. Vault AI for Veeva Safety lives directly inside Veeva Safety Suite to help you finish tasks faster. Example tasks Vault AI agents can do today: automatically draft clear, readable case narrative from raw case data, compare document versions to highlight changes, or answer questions while you navigate a workflow.
Need help writing, summarizing, or finding information? Use assistive AI (Vault AI). You need to automate intake and triage steps? Have your agentic teammate (Falcon) handle it.
