Alessandro is the CIO (Chief Information Officer) for Merck Healthcare, the group’s pharmaceutical division that accounts for more than 40% of the total Merck KGaA revenues.
The role consists in leading the overall Information Technology operations and projects across R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Marketing and Sales functions.
His mission encompasses the need for efficiently partnering with the business in order to deliver a reliable, state of the art, and highly adaptable Technology Solutions and Service providing Merck KgaA with a sustainable competitive advantage.
In 2019, he has been awarded as “Top 100 Most Influential Leader in Healthcare” by the IFAH (International Forum for Healthcare Advancement).
In 2017 and 2018, he has been interviewed by several newspapers (WSJ, Huffington Post, Forbes, Pharma Executive, CIO Journal) for his work on “Self Driving Supply Chains”.
In 2016, he has been elected “The Inspirational Leader of the Year” within the Merck BioPharma division.
In 2015, he has been awarded the Nr 1 Pharma “Most Influential Supply Chain Executive in Europe” (among the top 5 across all industries) by the SCM magazine.
Previously, he has been responsible for the Merck Healthcare Supply Chain operations including E2E planning, physical distribution & warehousing.
Prior to Merck KGaA, Alessandro worked in Procter & Gamble (FMCG’s industry) for 20 years holding positions across Innovation, Manufacturing, Engineering and Supply Chain Management.
